The Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a Department of Defense agency, is calling for nominations for the 2011 Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award. Guard and Reserve members and families are encouraged to nominate employers who have gone above and beyond federal requirements to support military employees. The Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award is the highest honor given to employers by the U.S. Government.

The 2011 winners will be announced in the spring and invited to attend the 16th annual Secretary of Defense Employer Support Freedom Award held in Washington, D.C. on September 22, 2011. 2010 recipients had the honor of meeting Vice President Joe Biden and Secretary of Defense Robert Gates. Members of Congress, senior military officials, and business leaders were in attendance.
