The U.S. Department of Defense recently announced that President Barack Obama signed legislation extending the Retroactive Stop-Loss Special Pay deadline through December 3rd.

It’s estimated that about 80,000 eligible service members, veterans and beneficiaries have yet to apply for the pay. Originally, the program was set to run through October 21st.

Stop-loss allows the military to extend service members beyond their original end-of-term dates. The stop-loss pay program has been used primarily after 9/11 to maintain the strength of personnel in deploying units.
